Karl J. Kaussen is principal and sole owner of Biotext, LLC in San Francisco, California, an interlingual services company with translators in 43 countries, specializing in the translation of medical textbooks as well as texts in the fields of healthcare, biotech, pharmaceutical trials, and medical equipment.

He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Ph.D. in Germanic Philology. Dr. Kaussen presently serves as the chairman of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of Heidelberg Club International (HCI), and in that capacity he established in 2010, together with the late HCI member Fred Aurelio, the HCI Youth Exchange program.

A native of Germany, Dr. Kaussen has lived in the U.S. since 1964. He now resides in San Francisco, California.
